i do wonder, in a world like this one, what the nature of that creature is. convergent evolution? shapeshifting? parasitism of an existing creature? quintessence shenanigans? several of those options?
there’s obviously the non-zero chance that “thought it’d be funny” is as deep as it goes, but that doesn’t mean we can’t wonder.
